About Teaching Tapes

TeachingTapes and our sister company Love of Art Productions were formed in 2002 by Ron Hardy and Alan Lefebvre, two veteran filmmakers with a love of traditional crafts and artistic expression and a desire to pass on knowledge of techniques and skills to all artists.

Ron is an amateur blacksmith and initiated the first four videos with blacksmith, Bill Epps. The videos teach the art of blacksmithing things like flowers, leaves, bugs, birds, tool making, and animal heads. Thousands of blacksmiths across the country and around the world are learning blacksmithing techniques from these and other videos.

In summer of 2002 a well respected publication, The Hammer's Blow, reviewed several of the videos and gave a glowing "thumbs up" critique. TeachingTapes and Love of Art Productions was off and running as a producer of artistic, educational videos.

DVD sales are made through the online distribution arm of the company, TeachingTapes.net. There, visitors browse all the titles offered and even look at short clips of the videos to get an idea what they're buying.

Coming from an art background, Alan Lefebvre initiated the topic expansion into fine arts. The first series was created with, Perri Sparks, noted artist of pastel and oil portraits (read the review). Using her classroom style of teaching, Love of Art Productions captured her demonstration of both pastel and oil techniques in a way that all artists would find educational. These DVD's are also available at TeachingTapes.net.

Love of Art Productions continues producing videos in a wide range of artistic subject matter.
